“What colleges have you attended?”
Short answer: none.
Long answer: I have signed up for and almost gone to a few colleges and universities, but ultimately decided not to attend any for various reasons.
At the end of my senior year of high school in 2020, I pledged to go to CU Denver for undergrad, and go to medical school after. This was all when I was still in my EMT class and doing ride alongs with Denver Health paramedics. Then the pandemic hit, and all my college plans were put on hold. During that time, I realized that emergency medicine, and the medical world in general, is not for me. Too many gruesome and soul wrenching things I heard and saw finally got to me and I was lost.

I had a brief job as a paraprofessional in a high school in 2022. It was the hardest job I’ve ever had, and commend anyone who has it as their life career, because teaching is extremely difficult and requires a high level of patience and understanding for every student. I remember a teacher I worked with encouraged me to teach because he thought I had these qualities, and I said hell yeah! So, I applied to CSU in Fort Collins, CO and was accepted for their teaching program. I can’t remember what happened with this, other than I never did it. I think I just realized that I would have a lot of student debt, and was just scared of it. Plus, I thought it wasn’t a very great paying job, and I realized I didn’t have the level of patience I thought I had to work with kids. I’m very much not a kid person.
Most recently, I applied for Red Rocks Community College and have been researching certifications. I’m playing with the ideas of park ranger, nail tech, and esthetician certs, but I haven’t landed on anything in particular yet.
I’ve also been toying with the thought of business schooling, where I can learn more about running a small business, marketing, social media, etc. I’m pretty open for whatever the future brings!
